Acceptable Use Policy

1. Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") supplements our Terms of Service and governs the content you upload and the conduct you engage in while using Gatefolded. By using our platform, you agree to comply with this policy. We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate this policy.

2. Prohibited Content

You may not upload, share, or distribute content that:

• Promotes hate or discrimination — Content whose primary purpose is to demean, harass, or incite violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics. This includes slurs used in titles, descriptions, or metadata with the intent to degrade.
• Threatens or harasses — Content that threatens, bullies, or intimidates specific individuals, or that encourages others to do so.
• Contains illegal material — Content that violates applicable laws, including but not limited to material that promotes illegal activity, fraud, or exploitation.
• Exploits minors — Any content that sexually exploits or endangers minors in any way.
• Infringes intellectual property — Content that infringes on the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of others. See our DMCA Policy for takedown procedures.
• Contains malware or spam — Content designed to deceive, phish, distribute malware, or abuse the platform for unsolicited promotion.

3. Artistic Expression

We recognize that music is a form of artistic expression that may address difficult or provocative subjects. Content will be evaluated in context. Lyrics or artwork that address themes of injustice, identity, or social commentary are treated differently from content whose sole purpose is to demean or harass. When reviewing reported content, we consider the work as a whole, including its artistic intent and context.

4. Enforcement

When we become aware of a potential violation — through user reports, internal review, or other means — we will evaluate the content in accordance with this policy. Our enforcement actions may include:

• Warning — For first-time or minor violations, we may issue a warning and request that you modify or remove the content within a reasonable timeframe.
• Content removal — We may remove or unpublish content that violates this policy. You will be notified when content is removed and given the reason for the action.
• Account suspension — For serious or repeated violations, we may suspend your account temporarily or permanently. You will be notified of the suspension and the reason.

In cases involving illegal content or imminent threats of harm, we may act immediately without prior notice.

5. Notifications

We will notify you via email whenever we take moderation action on your account or content, except in cases where we are legally prohibited from doing so or where immediate action is required to prevent harm. Notifications will include:

• A description of the content or conduct in question
• The specific policy provision that was violated
• The action taken (warning, content removal, or suspension)
• Instructions for how to appeal, if applicable

6. Appeals

If you believe we made an error in our enforcement decision, you may appeal by contacting us at hello@gatefolded.com with the subject line "Content Appeal". Please include:

• Your account email address
• A description of the content or action you are appealing
• Why you believe the decision was made in error

We will review all appeals and respond within 10 business days.

7. Reporting Violations

If you encounter content on Gatefolded that you believe violates this policy, you can report it using the report button on any artist or album page, or by emailing us at hello@gatefolded.com. We review all reports and take action as described above.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by posting the updated policy on the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
