About

Exohxo is a Seattle, Washington chamber-pop band built around the collision of pop immediacy and orchestral detail: forceful guitars, melodic hooks, warm harmonies, and violin lines that expand the songs without turning them precious. Formed by Jasen Samford and Danny Oleson, the project grew into a seven-piece lineup featuring guitars, drums, bass, piano, and violins, giving the band room to move from tight, punchy verses to full, cinematic climaxes. The Stranger described Exohxo as “experts at combining orchestral strings, forceful guitars, and poppy melodies,” a shorthand that fits the band’s best work: accessible choruses with arrangements that keep unfolding on repeat listens. In April 2010, Exohxo recorded the EP The Pitfalls, the Possibilities, the Peril and the Promise at Egg Studios with producer Conrad Uno, leaning into ’50s/’60s-inspired vocal harmony and “massive orchestration.” The band also captured a live release backed by Scott Teske’s Seattle Rock Orchestra at Fremont Abbey in Seattle. In 2015, Exohxo released The Ghost Is Clear, a focused six-song EP that distills their approach: sharp pop structures, emotional specificity, and layered instrumentation that stays agile rather than ornamental. After seven years of building in the Northwest scene, Exohxo ended the project later in 2015, leaving a catalog that bridges indie-rock energy with chamber-pop craft.
