Makara
MAKARA is a Bangkok-based psychedelic rock band whose sound grew from frontman Q’s desire to move beyond solo recording and make music collaboratively with friends. Drawing from the Molam music of Northeast Thailand and Laos that the band members heard growing up, they blend traditional melodic language and regional musical culture with raw psychedelic rock, improvisation, and modern songwriting. The band describes this distinctive fusion as “Neo Molam Psychedelic,” a sound first developed through their debut album, Strawberry Mind. In 2026, MAKARA reached a major international milestone with a live session for KEXP, where they performed fan favorites alongside unreleased material and introduced Molam music to a wider global audience.
